Intimate Encounters was born from the desire for a place in Amsterdam where anyone – also people without any experience visiting an intimate event like this – feel safer and freer to explore the diversity of sensuality surrounded by flowers, pleasant smells, a marvellous decor, and beautiful souls.
Imagine a journey that starts with a ceremony where the unwanted is left behind in the fire, where participants meet without words, where intentions are set. Next, a walking dinner will create space for words to flow and experiences to be shared before the workshops set off. Afterwards, the moment arises for you to explore the rest of the house; wash your dirty thoughts away in the spa, listen to the piano in the cuddlespace, expanding your ears to passionate poetry and much more. The higher you get, the more intimacy you might meet.
Refresh yourself at the tea and juice bar during the event and snack your way to paradise with plenty of fruits and healthy delights.
To make this exploration safe, we listed principles that we value as organisers and rules that we’d like participants to respect. If you can’t find yourself in these, this might not be an event for you. Furthermore, there will be Empathy Angels around to be there for you if something happens that needs to be addressed, more on that below. Additionally, every participant will have a little video call before buying a ticket with one of the organisers to talk about intentions and motivation for joining.
Creating a safe space to explore intimacy and sensuality is a continuous effort and a serious task for all participants. We hope that you understand our precaution!
Principles we value
— Consent; take your time in escalating sensually; ask/check for consent at every step.
— Radical self-reliance; be aware of yourself, what you need and try to be a responsible, proactive person. Try to take responsibility for your own emotions.
— Radical inclusion; try to make everyone count, also if you feel no attraction for the person, rather be curious why there’s none and try to focus on connection.
— Gifting; make an effort to share your love without expecting anything back.
— Radical self-expression; feel welcome to show and share your being as it is.
— Communal effort and participation; this is a research we do together. Participate, share with and care for others. Help making it happen, don’t consume, collaborate!
— Leave no trace; please make an effort to keep the space clean as you found it at arrival. This makes the communal clean-up at the end of the event go more smoothly.
— Immediacy; we invite you to be present in the moment. Share your feelings and urges as they arise in a respectful way. Ask an Empathy Angel for help/listening if needed.
Event Rules
— No alcohol and/or drugs! We decide together to go on this journey sober; not respecting this means being dishonest to other participants and probably won’t influence your experience in a positive way.
— Respect a ‘no’! Appreciate someone for finding the courage to say ‘no’.
— Tapping twice means ‘no’!
— Codeword ‘Ten Tree’ means EVERYBODY FREEZES. This is an emergency call and means that someone is either assaulted or dying!
— No phones, no pictures.
House Rules
— Act if you see something that doesn’t seem right; open up a dialogue and / or ask an Empathy Angel for assistance.
— Make an effort to keep the place clean.
— No glass in the spa.
— Be careful with the house. The event takes place in a precious space with furniture and materials that are fragile. Please keep this in mind during your explorations.
Empathy Angels
If something happens during the event that you’d like to share with someone, we invite you to find one of the Empathy Angels. They will make time for you, listen, and might be able to help. During the opening ritual, the Angels will show themselves. ‘The Tomb’ will serve as a safe space if you need a place to talk in private or to be alone.
We are always looking for people who have experience with Non-Violent-Communication (NVC) and wish to contribute as an Angel. Please get in touch with the organisation if this is your case.
Tickets
Intimate Encounters is a non-profit event. This means the ticket sales will cover the costs and any earnings will be invested in the IAMSEXUALITY platform. Organisers and artists get a minor compensation for their invested time. We value transparency; mail us for any questions concerning this topic.
There are five tickets:
Support ticket – Empty pockets (5) €46,-
Support ticket – Tenclub members €46,-
Support ticket – Early bird (15) €86,-.
Support ticket – Late bird (25) €96,-
Comfort ticket (10) €125,-
We ask everybody with a support ticket to help tidy up the space. It is a communal effort and believe it or not, most participants like this little decompression moment. Prior to the event you’ll get an email with instructions for the clean-up process.
To buy a ticket, send an email to coen[at]iamsexuality.com. Those interested in buying a ticket will be welcomed with a video call about intentions and motivations.
N.B. on the day of the event, entrance after 17:00 will NOT be allowed and tickets will not be refundable. Refundable ticket annulations are only eligible up to 7 days prior to the event.
Buying a ticket for Intimate Encounters will give you a code that grants access to yet another event: Intimate Integration. We strongly advise to visit both events; the integration will give you the possibility to process the experience and hear from others.
Drinks & Food
At this event we offer you high-quality food and non alcoholic drinks that are made with love for you and as well for our planet. We work with donations, taste-before-you-waste-inspiration and as much organic products as we can afford. The food will be plant-based. All food and drinks are included with the ticket, please mention allergies at least a week beforehand via email.
